Toshiba has cut by more than half the amount of money it expects to have lost in the financial year just ended.

The iPad appears to be selling well in Asia despite the fact that Apple’s official overseas launch isn’t until the end of May, as specialty stores obtain them to resell at premium prices and travelers to the U.S. bring them home.

If the latest rumors can be believed, the folks at BlackBerry are close to rolling out an entirely new operating system that will offer some welcome features like full multitouch functionality.

The Apple iPad has only been physically available to the general public for a few weeks, and the HP Slate is still a prototype waiting for a launch date, but that hasn’t stopped the two from being compared head-to-head as the defining epic battle for tablet supremacy. An early review of the HP Slate suggests that the iPad has the crown locked up, though.

SAP plans to acquire TechniData, a German company that provides software to help businesses comply with environmental, health and safety regulations.

In addition to software, TechniData offers managed services and information about regulations, and performs systems integration work.

Microsoft will fix an error on the Polish-language browser ballot screen that inadvertently always lists Internet Explorer first, a company official said Tuesday.

Michael Abbott, the head of Palm’s software and services team, will leave the company at the end of next week, according to a regulatory filing Palm made on Friday.
